What is surveying ?
Surveying is nothing but The measurement of dimensional relationships, as of horizontal distances, elevations, directions, and angles, on the earth's surface especially for use in locating property boundaries, construction layout, and mapmaking is basically called surveying in engineering language.
Different types of Surveying
Chain Survey
Definition: Chain survey
is the simplest type of survey in which the area to be surveyed is divided into
a number of triangles. The perpendicular distance, called offsets, of various
objects in the field from the line are measured and recorded in a book called
filed book. From these records in the field book, the whole area can be plotted
on a drawing sheet to a reduced scale. Note that we will not use field book,
all the offset will be recorded on the drawing sheet directly.
Circular Curve
Definition: In the geometric design
of roads, railways and pipelines, the design and setting out of curves is an
important aspect of an engineer’s work. Curve ranging is a design of 2 straight ways with a curve. In the design
of roads or railways, the part of straight line/ways connected with a curve who’s
its radius is constant or variables.
Contouring Survey
Definition: before giving the contouring survey first of
all we should maintain the meaning of contour. A contour is defined as an
imaginary line of constant elevation on the ground surface. It can also be
defined as the line of intersection of a level surface with the ground surface.
For example, the line of intersection of the water surface of a still lake or
pond with the surrounding ground represents a contour line.
A line joining points of equal elevations is
called a contour line. It facilitates depiction of the relief of terrain in a
two dimensional plan or map.
House Setting
Definition: House setting
is nothing but a plan for foundation of any kind of construction or civil work,
Say you need to built a two room house so the plan of your foundation is called
house setting .
Plane Table Surveying
Introduction:
•It is a graphical method of surveying
•Observations and plotting are done simultaneously
•Suitable for plotting surface details like buildings, trees,
or other permanent objects.
Traverse Surveying
Introduction:
·
Traverse is a method in the field of surveying to establish control
networks
·
A traverse is developed by measuring the distance and angles between
points that found the
boundary of a site
·
The main objective of this practical traverse will be the computation
of area inside a closed
traverse
